As The Who are at Glastonbury on Sunday, thought I'd post this nice youtube clip,as a taster! No, it's not that zimmers shite, it's a promo for I Can't Explain from 1965 (gawd- 42 years ago !)

If you've not seen this clip before, check it out- it features a shot of a modded up Vespa (is it a GS?).

Thats a coincidence cuz I watched Baba O Riley earlier this evening and was gonna post it ,but chose Cant Explain. Baba is probably my alltime fave music vid- John's unmistakable style of bass playing, Rogers posturing plus microphone twirling, Moon's crazy yet perfectly tight drumming and Pete's classic windmilling and menacing vocals make it a perfect example of the bands performances.

Love Oasis- not many bands can cover that classic track, and make it sound as if they've just written it- Just excellent!! Thanx Gerry- Anybody else got any fave music vids they'd like to post ??

Here you go Jim, Strange Town by The Jam 'LIVE'

Always reminds me of going down to Shepton Mallet to watch them perform at The Bath & West Showground 1981 (?).....they opened with this one.

Great choice Myk- Weller's strong and edgy vocal combined with his iconic dress sense, Foxton's stylish way of playing bass plus nice footwork and cool looking stage movements, and Buckler's rock solid drumming, Wow, what a fantastic band. Bruce and Rick happy to keep the Jam's music alive, but Paul reluctant to complete the re-union, saying that was all in the past, and it wouldn't be right to do it all again! Wouldn't it be fantastic if he changed his mind!!

Sorry Jim. I disagree. Weller has moved onwards and upwards since disbanding The Jam and going back would be a big mistake. I didn't like much of the Style Council stuff....he tried to re-create something and he never really got it right. His solo stuff since then has been much better and it was good to see him doing some Jam tracks on his last visit to Bristol.

I know what you mean about being able to see The Jam perform again.....but I'm convinced it would be the wrong thing to do. Everyone remembers The Jam for what they were....The biggest (and best?) British band since The Beatles. I reckon it should remain that way.

Why didn't Foxton and Buckler carry on with a new frontman back in 83?

I'm sure re-forming the band again (without Weller) has a lot more to do with £££'s rather than nostalga.

Anyone else got an opinion?

Yeah, you made some good points there Myk, I was hoping for maybe a one off gig, maybe in a major Band Aid type thing. I know what you mean about some bands are best remembered as they were, but we all know that Weller can still deliver the goods when performing live. Was it by mutual agreement when they originally disbanded,I can't remember, but I would have thought it was instigated by Mr W. It's difficult/ impossible for any band to continue without the frontman, wether the singer has decided to quit the band or by death! Can you imagine The Jimi Hendrix Experience continuing without Jimi, the Doors without Morrison, Queen without Mercury (though they have had stand ins, but its not the same is it) etc etc.

We all have bills/mortgages to pay/families to support (scooters to run!!) etc, who could blame Messrs Buckler and Foxton for trying to make some dosh by now trying to continue without Weller!

Let's hear what the man himself has to say-

Weller stated that a Jam reunion would "never, ever happen", and that reformations are "sad". He said "Me and my children would have to be destitute and starving in the gutter before I'd even consider that, and I don't think that'll happen anyway ... [the Jam's music] still means something to people and a lot of that's because we stopped at the right time, it didn't go on and become embarrassing."

Oh well, never mind!

To compliment Gerry's choice of Baba O Riley, here's Won't get fooled again, from the same set featured on The Kids Are Alright- you know the one, with the lazers, you've obviously seen it many times (you haven't? What planet have you been on?), but its still great! I've yet to see a more energised stage show- whatever Pete was on, I could do with some.
