Run To The Sun- Torbay 2008-More Pics Added

Postby Jim » Mon Jul 14, 2008 6:29 pm

After what seemed like a week of non- stop rain, the weather finally looked like it might be OK for the Run To The Sun, and it actually turned out to be pretty good! It was an extremely well attended event. with 54 scoots counted in the afternoon- well done to everybody from all the clubs for showing up for a fantastic rideout.

Our guys were- Gerry, Steve W, Dave M, Norm, Colin, Les, Martin, Des, Mike, Ray and Lu, Lee W ,David and friend, (and me) - sorry if I've missed anyone out! Respect to Lee who turned up after a very heavy Saturday night- your dedication has been noted, and a big thanx to all for making the effort.

Special thanx goes to Rob (Riviera SC) and friends for organizing the event- if anything, it was too successful- trying to keep a group of 50 scoots together, riding from one seaside town to the next turned out to be a bit of a problem, with several small groups losing their way (I was that man!), but I'm certain we all had a great day.

Heres a few pics.

<img src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r90/jimburnhammod/PICT1305.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

It's a bit tricky gettin' 50 scoots into a couple of shots! I'll put some more pics on later- I'm sure a few others have better pics (Les!).

Cheerz, Jim

I'll just add my thanks to you all for making it a fantastic day!!

We were lucky with the weather and lucky to have you guys and gals coming down to visit us down here in the sticks!!

Apologies the ride got a bit disjointed at one point (words were had!!) but we got there in the end for what turned out to be the best attended RTTS yet!!

Here's to next year!!

Cheers

Thanks Jim - you've really nailed it there. A great day out.

Poor old Lee's eyes were bleeding first thing but he made his own way to meet us there - by the end he looked almost human again ! Well played mate. We were also very pleased to see Steve Wilson - quite rare these days but very welcome indeed.

Rob and the Riviera boys did us proud and there were guys from all points of the compass - New Forest, Plymouth...you name it. Also noted several ladies joined us - including Lovely Lou (of Ray and .....)

If it grows at the same rate next year, maybe we'll have to get the LCGB to take over the meeting as a formal Rally in its calendar !

Thanks to Jim for sorting out the Bristol side of things - and of course the weekend campers - Des, Mike, Ray.

As JLC would say - "Good times!"

Please post as many pics as you can - we nick 'em and put them in the Gallery.

Cheers

Hi all,

Will sort out a CD Disc thingy later this week and send it to Jim.

If you're interested there are loads of pics on New Forest SC site but I think you have to register to view. Well worth it though. We're a handsome lot.....well.....most of us!!

I guess there's always some dimwitted @rsehle out to try and prove a point that's buried somewhere in the furthest reaches of their tiny mind.

I say live and let live.........and if you can't do that don't turn up to rideouts with the sole intention of mocking others and stirring stuff up.

Anyway, nothing can take it away from a superb turnout and great day.

I think I have got to the bottom of who is responsible for this (well 99.9% certain) and it seems it wasn't a local club but was from someone (or 2) who were at Romany Jones cafe before anyone else.

I'll try & get hold of Jim tonight to point him in the right direction and leave it to you guys as to how you wish to proceed.

I don't know what it is with people who say they have a shared interest when they slag you off for using vans (forgetting about the logistics, cost, effort, time etc etc.......and the fact it's the event you were attending not the fecking M5!!)

Ride safe guys and girls, you're always welcome down here whether you ride, van it, crawl, hop, fly or fecking bounce!!

Remember....it only matters to those who don't matter themselves.

Cheers

Rob

Just want to say Thankyou for last Sunday to the Riviera boys & girls for a bloody brilliant rideout, Took me back years, the Crowd, the Cops, the
threats, the Fish and Chips, the laughs, and the Friendship of riding together. There will always be do'ers and those who stand on the sidelines
and never make an effort . Thankfully Im with a bunch of people who are
riding scoots for the love of scoots and the friendship that they bring. Im proud to be a member of my club, Its not about people its about scooters
the love of scooters and freedom to ride them .
