AGM- The Minutes

Postby Jim » Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:39 pm

Firstly, a big THANK YOU to all who turned up for our AGM on what was quite a wet winter's evening. We had a very good show of members which I think, is significant of the continual enthusiasm for the club. Certainly worthy of a mention at this point is Gerry, Malcolm, and Dave Merchant, who all travelled from further afield just for the meeting- again, thanks to all who were there, and I fully appreciate that not every club member could make it, due to family or work commitments.(Or still recovering from a heavy Saturday night!)

So, here's the minutes of the meeting:-

The Committee

It was agreed that the club committee will remain the same as it was in 2008, ie-

Gerry Churchill...Chairman
Jim Burnham......Secretary
Normam Webb...Treasurer
Des Coles..........Committee Member
Steve Holloway..Committee Member

Well done to all fellow committee members for all your efforts in successfully running the club over the last year, and thanks for agreeing to carry on with the good work through 2009.

Club Finances

Our Treasurer, Norm, reported to us that we were in credit to the sum of £238.45p. (Thankfully, he didn't have these funds in any Icelandic bank account!)

Membership Fee

It was unanimously agreed, that due to the fact that we were in the enviable position of having a substantial amount in the kitty, that the membership fee for 2009 would be a credit crunching £5.00. I'm sure you will all agree that this represents good value! Thanks to everyone who pressed a fiver into Norm's hand on the evening, and If you haven't paid yet, please try and give it to Norm, sometime in the near future.

Club Merchandise

Last year we were hoping to arrange production of a few club items, but with the best of intentions, they never quite materialised! I apologise to anybody who was a bit disappointed by this, but this year we are determined to finally sort something out. This is what we intend to do-

*Parka Patch- Gerry has the graphics and he will get these to Norm.
*Enamel Badge- Norm is going to check out the cost.
*Pin Badge- I'm going to source a competively priced supplier.
*Fly Screen Transfer- Steve H has really got to work on this and he already has some good news! (You've got to admit- he's quick!) He'll be posting up details. Well done mate, you've set the pace, Thanks!

These items will either be free, discounted, or sold at cost price to all members who have paid the membership fee for 2009, depending on the final costs.

Website

We've very recently addressed the problem of members who have found themselves 'banned' from our forum,(thankfully, only a few!) so hopefully this won't happen anymore. Again, I apologise if this has happened to any of you in the past. If anybody is experiencing any probs, either logging on or registering as a new member, please give me a call, and I will happily help.

It was also decided that I would phone Des every Friday evening to report any events for the coming weekend, so he in turn can inform any other members who might not have internet access.

We also intend to refresh all the photos in the member section, and possibly replace the main front page group photo. We'll be sorting this out later in the year when the sun comes out!

Newsletter

It was decided, that as any current information regarding recent or future events or any news on anything you would need to know as a club member is regularly posted and updated on the forum,we will, for the time being, suspend posting a newsletter. Instead it will be replaced with the Events Diary, as soon as it is completed.

Social Events

We mainly discussed the success of last year's Locarno Nights, and we have decided to make this a single annual event, probably held in spring/ early summer. (Subject to Bernie kindly agreeing to do it again!) However, we will again be looking for the right venue. We have a couple of places in mind, and we are determined to get the best and most suitable venue available!

Date For Next Meeting

We are going to have a committee meeting on Sunday March 8th, to finalise our Event Diary for the year. Everybody is welcome to come along, and I'll be posting up details a bit closer to the date.

Charity

Briefly, a few members have expressed an interest in doing something. We have a charity in mind, and I'm investigating an idea that has been put forward.

And that is basicly the main topics of the meeting! If you have any comments you'd like to make on anything, please feel free to reply on here or give me a ring.

Thanx again, Jim

As Jim has mentioned, thanks to super fast service from Alan and Bob at Rockwell Signs, Southmead Rd, (not to mention doing them very cheaply), I now have our BRISTOL MOD S.C. flyscreen lettering.

Comes in black or silver, letters are 18mm high x 220mm overall length.

One set free to all 2009 paid up members, or should you require more than one set, extras can be purchased at 2-00 each.

Contact me on: 07973 769227 to bag yours!

I am happy to post them to you, or you can call at mine to collect (Shirehampton), or I will bring along to next meet.

Well done guys - good stuff.

After flogging a few Polo Shirts and gathering in a few Fivers - the Club is now in the black to the tune of well over £300.

See you when I get back from the Casino.......
