Hi guys, I'm having bit of trouble with my newly purchased Lambretta

I was getting a good run on it and now suddenly its playing up, starting now and again but often cutting out then not kicking again. I was gonna go to garage and get it looked at but just wondered if it was something simple that I may be able to have a go at myself as I'm hoping to learn as much as possible in future to maintain its running :scooter:

Hoping to start meeting up for ride outs too (when the weather picks up) and pay the membership fee, so need a running scooter first :grrr:

Cheers, Mike Hughes

Unless its a specialised garage with Lambretta knowledge you're probably wasting your time and money. Its most likely something simple.........

Give us some info on the engine spec; carb etc etc and somebody will be able to give you some pointers.

Alternatively whereabouts are you?

Mike

if you work your way thru Jims/ Gerrys list methodically (replacing/ checking ONE thing at a time) you should soon find the problem.

If at the end of the day its no better then please don't hesitate to shout, and if need be I'll pop over.

Do you have a shed/ garage and a kettle?
:-D

now you have it running , does it start well when hot? if not you could have wear in piston rings, a sure way to find out is to turn off petrol before you turn off and let the scoot stop on its own,ie run out of petrol, and when you start it when cold it will start better indicating worn piston rings, could also cause bad starting :puzzled:

Not sure what carbs they have, but the principle is the same.

Try adjusting the choke mechanism by very small amounts to see if that helps
