Jan 30th 1969, Apple HQ, Saville Row London. I love watching the numerous vids of this on Youtube- this one is my fave- it's so representative of London in the late sixties. The general public, the older men, in their office worker drab and dull grey outfits, contrasted against the gorgeous dolly bird in her mini dress, the obligatory trendy sports car, the cool young couple sat on the seat just chillin' out, and the cops, looking like characters from an old Ealing Studio whodunnit film! And the Beatles, coolest band EVER!Priceless!

...............Number 3 Saville Row actually :-D

The last paying performance was in Candlestick Park, San Francisco USA on Monday August 29 1966. They were on for 33 minutes. Tickets cost between $4.50 and $6.50. There were many unsold seats apparently

Next one then.......

What connects:-

1) The Monkees directly to
2) Top of The Pops

and its not the fact that they appeared on the show.

Didn't Mike Nesmith's aunt invent Tippex, and they had a bottle of it in the TOTP production teams office?? Or is it something a bit less obvious??

Right Chris, it was his mum- you're such a stickler for details, yet you spelt Mickies surname wrong (What are you like!!) Got it now- Micky Dolenz began his career as Korkie the Circus Boy (my spelling might be wrong now!!), circus's are held in a big top, and the word top is also in 'Top of the pops! Cracked it! Next question please!

Not so fast................... Yes he started in Circus Boy (co-staring with Jim Rockfords screen Dad), but thats not the connection.

The connection is much more strong- I had TOTALLY forgot about it. Which is worrying- how much more of the 1960's have I forgotten??

Clue- involves his wife.....................

Obviously not Samantha Janus (Cor!) So the only Samantha from that era that I can remember is Samantha Juste, the gorgeous girlie who (pretended to ) put the records on while the like of Jimmy Saville did all the "Right then guys'n' gals, the next record is by the ........!" Blimey, was that his missus, she was well tasty!!

See ya later down the Locarno !!
