For those who recall the halcyon days of "proper" skinhead / mod men's fashion of the mid/late 60's onwards (I hope this won't precipitate an argument about what is/ what is not "mod" etc since thats certainly not my intention), I bring sad news.
John Simons - he of the Ivy Shop/Squire Shop/Village Gate chain; the original "Baracuta" Harrington Jacket; Brooks Brothers Button-down Cotton Oxfords; Bass Weejun Penny Loafers etc etc - is closing down.
His shop in Covent Garden will shut its doors for the last time in February next year - after 29 years of trading.
There is a sale starting about now - so, if you able to get along there, its a little bit of "our" history reaching a conclusion and you may find something to put in your Christmas stocking.
I feel quite depressed about it, to be honest.
