Any Decent Chrome Platers?

Postby StephenLI125 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:54 pm

Hi there, can anyone recommend any decent chrome platers anywhere within the UK please. I have a Tutto Innocenti copy exhaust and the strange paint that is supposed to cure with heat hasnt, even after 100 miles! I therefore thought about chrome plating it... Any good platers that I can trust with this expensive exhaust?

Hi Richard,
Chrome plating is very expensive, but if you have a large pocket and desire to have it done. Try.

If you want 1st class chrome plating then S&T at Yate are reputed to be the best but you have to be a lottery winner to afford their prices

Series 2 kick start £80.00
series 2 fork links £110.00 fell of the perch when i had to collect but in saying that spot on and not a mark or blemish

Bernie has recommended a guy in Weston who is good and is reasonable
have not got any details

Yes, Doug Taylor in Weston is pretty good, but as Rich says, if you want the best ...S+T at Yate are the boys.

Had some stuff done by S&T several years ago, wheels, stand, bridge piece, etc. Agree with above, expensive! but it came back twice as heavy as when it went (thick plating) and it still looks as good as new.

Doug has done a lot for me in the last few years, and I only had one complaint.
He took the panel back in and re-chromed it for free.
It stayed on untill I sold it 4 years later, and I ride all weathers.

Might be worth getting Gary to ring, and speak to John, Im sure he will sort it.

Shaun.

Hi Shaun, Nice to see that Weston Club members can not only browse our forum, but are also able to contribute to discussions.

Do you know why we can no longer even access the Weston Club forum without registering, let alone join in?

I did try registering but was told my email address was banned! Can`t think why, as you know I`m an upstanding citizen, and OK kind of guy!

Sounds like it had a contaminant on it prior to chroming, which they should have removed at the de-chroming stage.
Yes, definitely take it back.

these people are, apparently, very good.

http://www.aerocoat.net/

Its not chrome but powdercoating, and they do a "chrome" finish now which is very good
