Fanatic Scooters shop to close

Postby fanaticscooters » Wed Jun 30, 2010 12:34 pm

Hi. Dave and Emma just wanted to let you know that we are closing our North Street shop at the end of July, with a view to doing other things with the shop. Thanks to those of your members who have supported us over the years. Good luck with the club and the scene. Dave and Em. :-)

Thats very sad, as Fanatic have welcomed the club with open arms, and helped many of us out on occasions.

I agree! Thanx for your help over the last few years Dave. I know you and Emma have put a lot of effort into running the shop, which can't have been easy with the difficult economic climate. Good luck with your future projects.

All the best. Jim

Closing down sale

Postby fanaticscooters » Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:39 am

Well we're happy to do deals and a lot of stuff is going cheap. But we will be continuing with doing the parts fairs and shows, that are always good for us. It's just the shop that has become unsustainable.

that does seem to be a general problem nowadays with scooter shops- the actual shop overheads must be astronomical. Mail order may be the way to go.

Not just scooter shops.
The high street is changing. Period.
Where are all the Butchers, Hardware shops, Greengrocers etc.???
Theyre all on the decline.
Support your local shops, or theyre a gonna.

mail order

No. I don't think so. It's a deeper problem than that. There's just not anything like so much money and opportunity in the trade as there was. Not worth the tie of a dedicated shop. There are other things I could be doing. We've had a good innings; I'm not sad or bitter about it. The strange thing that I hadn't foreseen myself is the drop off in T&G scooterist traffic and trade.

But anyway, thanks, seriosuly to all those who have supported us. In many ways. We have made some good friends and we owe a lot to some of the Bristol Mod members who put their trust in us even when we had our backs against the wall (Steve H, and others). And the regulars who have always come in with a happy face and a cheery word of encouragement for us (Bernie, Gerry, Jim B, and others), and new customers alike, who have been a pleasure to deal with (Colin Birch, and others). Plus of course, long-standing support from Norm.

Dave.

Oh, and for those who never get my humour and can't abide my impatience or think me rude; sorry guys, life's short, I'll buy you a drink :-D

Know what you mean, when I lived oop north, Eric at ESP Scooters closed his shop in Wigan and started trading from home where he has been able to reduce overheads and is still going. Wish you all the luck. Dave and Liz :clapping: :clapping:
