Ride To Volksfest - Sunday 21 June

Postby Jim » Sun Jun 14, 2015 9:30 pm

The Bristol Volksfest takes place this weekend, and as usual, we are having a ride out there on the Sunday to show our scoots! This event is always very well attended by the public, with just about every kind of Volkswagen on show with loads of stalls and lots more to see!

Here is the plan -

MEET AT THE ARNOLFINI

THIS SUNDAY 21ST JUNE

AT 11:00AM FOR 11:30 DEPARTURE

TO RIDE TO BRISTOL VOLKSFEST

AT WASHINGPOOL FARM

IN EASTER COMPTON

You can of course, meet up with us on site!

ALSO -

On the Friday Night , it's the Never On Sunday Summer Party at the Volksfest!

Appearing live on stage will be the fabulous Blak Flamez, Bristol's famous and original Ska band, plus party until 1am to the great soul sounds of the 60s. Never On Sunday are supporting Penny Brohn Cancer Care, a very important local charity.

The Vee Dub crowd are renowned for being crazy party people who know how to have a really great time, so with the Never On Sunday mob there as well, this is gonna be one helluva night not to be missed, and all for a very good cause!

Some of us already have tickets, but you can pay at the gate on the night!

For more info about the whole weekend, check out the Volksfest website -

Hope to see you all there!

Apparently it's Bristol Eco Week ( are old scoots eco friendly....maybe not! ) and there is some sort of bike ride or something around Bristol on this Sunday, so not too sure whether the Arnolfini will be accessible!

If it is cordoned off or you can't get there because of closed roads, don't worry! Just ride on up to our old meeting spot at the Tea Hut on the Downs. The Tea Hut ain't there anymore, but as we will be riding across the Downs anyway, we'll check to see if anyone is there on the way!

Last year we had a really good turn out for this day, so let's have an even bigger show of scoots this year and give the VW crowd an impressive line up to look at! We've been going to Volksfest for yonks now, and we are always well received at this very special event!

Me an' Steve were there last nite - really good friendly atmosphere and we both remarked how much bigger this event seems to be this year! Something you must see whilst there this Sunday is the motorcycle 'Wall Of Death'! We saw it last nite - WOW, amazing, do not miss it!

Any probs, please give me a call on 07816 194736.

See you on Sunday!

It seems it could be worse than you think Jim :grrr:

My daughter`s just come home from Broadmead area and told me that Park Street is presently closed and tomorrow the whole of the central area is also shut to traffic for this Bike ride (this includes roads around Arnolfini)

The Portway is also shut so that will just push more traffic through central Bristol

I`m definitely going to avoid it and head straight for the old Tea Hut site on the Downs for about 11.15ish. It would seem to make sense for everyone to do the same to avoid getting trapped in Bristol, particularly as we are then on the right side of town to get to the Volksfest :riding:

Excellent turnout - many thanks and well done to all who managed to make this a really good day!

The weather was reasonable, and when the wind dropped and the sun was out, it actually felt like it was summer!

Hope all enjoyed the day and got back safe and sound!

See you all next time!
