Blimey Dan, thought you`d got it sorted :grrr:

Don`t do anything too hasty, it`s a Lambretta, it can be repaired...........................................................can`t it?

whats the set up? 6v points; 12v electronic? etc etc.

What have you tried so far? It might be something simple- offers there if you want.

Hi Chris, scoot starts sweet as first kick, will run perfectly until normal temperature then cut out (about 5 miles). Then no spark at all ! Replaced electronic ignition and regulator , same problem ! Then a mate tested resistance coming out of stator when cold - normal reading , then when warmed up - increased reading so we concluded that the LT coil the stator may be faulty ! So replaced that ! OK for one day then back to original problem - cutting out when engine warm !!

all noted- I'm assuming you've replaced the stator; CDI unit and regulator?

If so its unlikely (but unfortunately not unknown!) that the replaced components are faulty as well, and that the fault therefore lies elsewhere.

It sounds like a heat related problem and my first instinct would be a dry/ duff joint somewhere as it appears to work OK at start up temperature and breaks down when warm/ hot.

Have you considered the actual ignition switch itself?- try bypassing the switch by removing the green wire- this will eliminate any internal switch fault although you will have to stall the scooter to stop it!

Make sure you have good earths where required and check them "electrically" rather than just visually.

Apart from that its a question of working back from the plug and changing components as necessary I'm afraid.

There is a lot to be said for 6v points systems! Please let me know how you get on.

thanks for your reply chris, stator and ignition switch renewed last year, and as explained new LT coil on stator, new cdi and regulator, so presuming all ok there, maybe we could get together you could take a look at earths, and test ignition switch etc. i,m on holiday this sat for 10 days, cheers !

Danny no problem with getting together .........BUT am going on holiday early tomorrow. Back 12 August!

Have a go at making sure all the earths are bolted tightly to bright metal. If that doesn't help and no one else can assist (and you can wait), give me a shout on my return- where are you roughly?
