Bristol Modernist Weekender - The Ride In.

Postby Jim » Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:56 am

The Bristol Modernist Weekender which has been organized by Suit Yourself Modernist Culture is coming up shortly, and as part of the activities, BMSC will be heading up a massive 'Ride In' to the event on the Saturday afternoon.

We'll be meeting up at the Cafe next to The Water Tower on The Downs at midday - 12.30 for 1:00pm departure. All being well ( and what the weather is doing! ) we'll be riding a scenic route taking in some of the landmarks of Bristol and ending up at The Boardroom in St. Nicholas Street in the centre of Bristol for a fantastic free event!

We'll be parking up outside The Boardroom, where there will DJs playing, photographic display and upstairs there will be a continuous showing of the film - John Simons - a Modernist - just one day after it's London Premiere!

There will also be a Best Scooter competition.

So here are the main details-

MEET UP BY THE WATER TOWER

ON SATURDAY 28TH APRIL

AT MIDDAY FOR 1:00PM DEPARTURE

FOR A RIDE IN TO THE EVENT

AT THE BOARDROOM PUB IN

ST. NICHOLAS STREET.

This ride is open to all scooterists.

There is also a Friday Night Extravaganza at The Boardroom - please see the posting on our Gigs page.

And on the Saturday night -

THIS IS THE BIG ONE - We pull out all the stops for this, our BIG Saturday night party. We have booked the Jack of Diamonds in what is termed as the old market part of Bristol, this recently refurbished venue has two floors and has retained all it's original sixties styled features, fixtures and fittings including plush bars, comfy chill out areas and huge wing backed seating. Both floors have great dance floors and their own bars. DJ's for the night include the cream of the international Mod scene and will be playing on both floors. Everything from sixties/Northern soul, R%B, Ska, Jazz, Latin Blues and Mod classics that will be drummed out of the clubs fantastic sound systems until four in the morning.

This is the ultimate 60's Mod clubbing experience in the heart of Bristol, you will truly feel like you have stepped back in time with this incredible venue.

As you can see, this is going to be a fantastic weekend! You really don't want to miss the ride in so please make sure all your scooters are nicely polished up and ready for action!

Further details are available on the Suit Yourself Modernist Culture Facebook page.

I'd love to join in with this - its sounds great.
Unfortunately, I have a long-booked family weekend in London.
So, sadly, I'm out of it.

Have fun.
