Yeah, you made some good points there Myk, I was hoping for maybe a one off gig, maybe in a major Band Aid type thing. I know what you mean about some bands are best remembered as they were, but we all know that Weller can still deliver the goods when performing live. Was it by mutual agreement when they originally disbanded,I can't remember, but I would have thought it was instigated by Mr W. It's difficult/ impossible for any band to continue without the frontman, wether the singer has decided to quit the band or by death! Can you imagine The Jimi Hendrix Experience continuing without Jimi, the Doors without Morrison, Queen without Mercury (though they have had stand ins, but its not the same is it) etc etc.
We all have bills/mortgages to pay/families to support (scooters to run!!) etc, who could blame Messrs Buckler and Foxton for trying to make some dosh by now trying to continue without Weller!
Let's hear what the man himself has to say-
Weller stated that a Jam reunion would "never, ever happen", and that reformations are "sad". He said "Me and my children would have to be destitute and starving in the gutter before I'd even consider that, and I don't think that'll happen anyway ... [the Jam's music] still means something to people and a lot of that's because we stopped at the right time, it didn't go on and become embarrassing."
Oh well, never mind!
