Marathon Man (well 50% at least)

Postby Norm the Newsletter » Sat Sep 01, 2007 9:26 am

As I think most of you’re aware, I am running in the Bristol Half Marathon next Sunday 9th September - whilst most of you are enjoying "Deckchairs" or the Cheddar runs.

I’ve been training for a couple of months and off the booze completely for over a week (deserves a medal in itself !). Bear in mind, I have NEVER in my life run further than 10 miles in a single session……………..

I’ll be running to support a registered Charity – “Young and Free” (be careful what you google on to find the website, the Title is likely to produce all sorts of salacious content!).

Basically, it’s a Charity my wife and her mates started up a year ago to support adult disabled people – by forming a “befriending” service with non-disabled peers. They get to network and socialise together so they can get out more (sic) – without their parents in tow. In recent months, It’s started to really take off.

If you fancy sponsoring me, I’m not looking to break any records. It’s the thought that counts. Couple of quid is fine.

Originally, I’d aimed to run it in under 2 hours but I don’t think I’m up to that. We’ll see.

Cheers

Norm

PS. To prevent you from inadvertently finding any wrong and potentially arrestable sites, here’s the Young and Free website link:

Hi Norm,

This is a great thing to do and no doubt a bit of a challenge too. My brother is disabled and this charity sounds really good. Put me down for a £25 for when I next see you.

Good luck and have fun, .....ouch

Regards
