There is an event at Bitton Railway Station on Sunday 6 March celebrating 50 years since the last train ran for BR. Details lifted from Avon Valleys website and shown below:-

LAST TRAIN TO BITTON – 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT

story-of-the-avr
6 March

Join us to commemorate 50 years to the day of the last passenger trains to run on the Avon Valley line. We’ll be turning the clock back to 1966 and remembering the life and times of Bitton Station during this time.

Come dressed in 1960s clothing…MODs, Rockers, Flowerpower?… You’ll see iconic vintage cars from the era (including a Triumph Herald police car), and hear music of the era.

There’ll be a vintage bus running from Bitton Station, on a ‘Rail Replacement Bus Service’, up to Warmley Station and Signal Box which will also be open to visitors to look around.

Back at Bitton station both a steam and heritage diesel trains will be in operation throughout the day, bringing back memories of British Rail’s Modernisation Plan when steam was phased out in favour of the more modern diesel fleet.

Normal train fares apply
