Got a monkey going spare?

Postby Jim » Sun Oct 14, 2012 8:50 am

...for an original Ken Cobbing exhaust! It's been nicely renovated, but how much are folk prepared to spend to get 'the real thing'? 2 days to go, and already on £490!

and to think I had one like this on my Lammy in 1967 and sold the scoot for next to nothing - if only we knew then, why didn't our mums and dads tell us -----or did they ??

Looks like it's been sold offline- maybe some wedged up geezer approached him with a suitcase full of used £20 notes!

Yes Dave- I can remember way back in 1967 (or was it '68?) riding down to Kings scooter shop just off the bottom of Stokes Croft on a Saturday morning, parking up outside the shop, and going in to buy one of these exhausts! Three pounds seventeen shillings and sixpence or thereabouts was the the asking price! Sounds stupidly cheap, but as a young scrote who was just an office boy at the time, that was more than half my weeks wages!

Kings was the place to go on a Saturday morning, loads of guys there with their scoots, just checking out to see who was riding what! I remember the blokes behind the counter in Kings wore warehouse coats, with all the goodies on display on the wall behind them, I recall discussing if the outrigger would fit my series two TV 175, and the bloke said I would need a new U bend (fifteen shillings?) and either remove or cut down the kick start side rear running board!

Well I only had four bleedin' quid with me, so had to give it a miss on this occasion! I can remember thinking how overpriced these bloody scooter things were - nothing seems to have changed, has it!

Nostalgia - it ain't what it used to be!

Steve....gets a bit stupid , take a look at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130811666677? ... 1438.l2649

love his reason for selling a Lambretta I've owned this scooter for just over a year and just do not use it. If I'm honest I'm a Vespa man and should have just stuck to what I know, no matter how much I want to, I just can't get used to the transition from the way a Vespa handles to the way a Lambretta does. a man who talks sense and he's from the West Country as well
